® BC,7K 9 ~~r.r 86~ <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, January 5th, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room <br />on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, <br />North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. Those present were Commissioners <br />John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />Reverend Dick Hobson, Pastor of the First Presbyterian <br />Church of Sanford gave the invocation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on December 15, <br />1980, and the adjourned regular meeting held on December 29, 1980, were <br />approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, <br />seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />The Board next discussed road matters. The request of William <br />H. Rorer, Inc. , that the road from Secondary Road No. 1464 to its plant site, <br />be named "Rorer Way", was considered and upon motion of Commissioner John <br />E. Dotterer, duly seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, it was unanimously <br />resolved to conduct a public hearing as requested by General Statutes 153A-240, <br />on the matter of naming a road in an unincorporated area of the County. The other <br />matter discussed pertained to marking the entrance to the Cotten Road which leads <br />from U. S. Highway No. 1 to Cumnock and the refusal of the Department of Trans- <br />portation to post roads with signs indicating that children were playing in the area. <br />The receipt of the annual statement of expenditures for secondary <br />construction in Lee County was noted and it was requested that the County Manager <br />consult with the District Engineer concerning the current status of the priority <br />list for improvements to secondary roads. <br />The County Manager reported that he had had a request for a <br />budget amendment from the Parks and Recreation Commission whereby Maintenance <br />Equipment would decrease by the amount of $166.40 and New Equipment would be <br />increased by the same amount in order to purchase a new dryer for installation <br />at the Armory building. This transfer had been approved by the County Manager <br />
