BOOK 9 P",fu 885 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 2, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at <br />9:30 o'clock a, m. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, Lila <br />P. Nielsen, K. S. Harmon and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />was absent due to illness. Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The Reverend C. L. May of the First Baptist Church opened the <br />meeting with a prayer. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, January 19, 1981, <br />were approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, <br />seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, Planner, appeared before the Board on behalf <br />of the Lee County Planning Board and presented for consideration a final plat on <br />property of Mr. Cyrus W. Womack, on Williams Lake. After review, Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke moved that the plat be approved and the Chairman authorized to <br />execute the certificate prescribed by ordinance. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Don R. Gunderson, Director of Social Services, appeared before <br />the Board and reviewed at length the written quarterly report he had submitted to the <br />Board. <br />The Chairman noted that the time had passed for the public hearing <br />on the naming of a street in an unincorporated area. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />moved that the Board proceed to hold a public hearing on the matter. Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The <br />Chairman noted that no one had been in the meeting room since the scheduled time for <br />the hearing nor was anyone present at the time when the hearing was opened. Commiss- <br />ioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the public hearing be closed. Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />
