Hartman, Jr. , requested <br />that he be permitted to engage the services of the firm known as the "Center for <br />Urban Affairs", at a price not to exceed $8, 000. 00 for consultation with respect <br />to the type and system of data processing that the County needs. Commissioner <br />John E. Dotterer moved that the County Manager be permitted to engage the <br />services of the "Center for Urban Affairs" at a price not to exceed $8, 000. 00, <br />for such consultation services. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded <br />the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Jack D. <br />Funderburke and K. S. Harmon voted for it and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />voted against it. <br />The Board next discussed whether or not it would go into <br />Executive Session to discuss personnel and land matters. Commissioner Jack <br />D. Funderburke moved that the Board go into Executive Session. Commissioner <br />John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Following the Executive Session, the Board resumed its open meeting. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke moved that the Board <br />establish the position of Assistant Director within the Parks and Recreation <br />Department and that he be assigned a pay grade of 68 and a step grade of 3, for <br />the purpose of tighter fiscal control within said department. Commissioner <br />John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was adopted by a majority <br />vote, wherein Commissioners Dotterer, Funderburke and Harmon voted for it and <br />Commissioner Wicker voted against it. <br />The Chairman reported that the County Manager had noted that <br />Mr. Paul Aderhold had completed his probationary period of employment and was <br />recommended for employment on a permanent basis. Commissioner Dotterer <br />moved that Mr. Paul Aderhold be employed on a permanent basis and that he be <br />promoted one step within his present pay grade, said promotion to be effective <br />on March 1, 1981. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The request of Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Gobernments for <br />the Board's support of the continued planning and development of a co-ordinated <br />regional emergency medical service system, was presented to the Board. Comm- <br />issioner John E. Dotterer moved that the Board continue its support of that pro- <br />gram and authorize the Chairman to execute a letter to that effect. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />approved. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to the Tax Collector's <br />report for the month of January, which had been distributed at this meeting. <br />
