Pretrial Services Coordinator Autumn
Smith then introduced her staff and how her team will work with the RENEW program.
In addition to Ms. Smith, the Pretrial Department also includes Judicial Services
Coordinator Kristie Brayboy and Community Social Worker Steven Money. Ms. Noel
recognized Management Fellow Ben McQueary for creating the RENEW logo, with the
assistance of Clerk to the Board/Communications Specialist Hailey Hall. Ms. Noel also
noted that staff will bring applications from non-profits to the Board at the November 20,
2023 meeting. County Manager Lisa Minter emphasized that non- profits would be
signing up to participate in this reimbursement program and that this is not a grant.
County Attorney Whitney Parrish noted that non-profits must meet all criteria on the
checklist developed by staff, which is attached and incorporated into these minutes. A
PowerPoint presentation will be available to non-profits who cannot attend the October
6 information session.
Application.pdf
Reimbursable Expenses.pdf
Initiative Contract.pdf
Application Qualification Checklist Final.pdf
Motion: Motion to approve funding re-allocation in the amount of $500,000 in
ARPA MBA2 money from the Dream Center to the Lee County Government's
Health and Wellbeing Initiative with $250,000 for non-profit reimbursable
services and $250,000 for contracted services.
Mover: Robert Reives
For: 7 - Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver,
Mark Lovick, Taylor Vorbeck
Motion Result: Passed
V.0 Jail Cameras Discussion
Commissioner Taylor Vorbeck requested to discuss updating the cameras in the
County Jail based on recent incidents that have occurred. County Manager Lisa
Minter said that during Sheriff Brian Estes'budget presentation to the Board in May
2023, the Sheriff mentioned the need for the cameras to be upgraded in the Jail, but
did not include it in his requested budget because he felt it would be addressed in
the jail feasibility study. Due to staff turnover, the feasibility study has taken longer
than expected to get started. Ms. Minter said if the Board would like to move forward
on this, she recommends instructing the Sheriff to get a new quote on replacing the
cameras and system. Sheriff Estes said staff can't just replace a few cameras
without replacing the whole system and that the current cameras were installed in
2012.
