IV.A Lee County Sponsorship/Naming Rights Policy
County Manager Lisa Minter presented the Lee County Sponsorship/Naming Rights
Policy on behalf of Management Fellow Ben McQueary, who could not be in
attendance this meeting. Staff is asking the Board to take action on the policy and
proposed pricing sheet this evening. Ms. Minter noted the Board had a brochure at
their seats, which will kick off a sponsorship campaign called Playing for Tomorrow
for the Multi-Sports Complex and new Library projects. If approved tonight, the
pricing could change based on feedback over the next few months. Mr. McQueary
attended and presented this to both the Library Board of Trustees and Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board meetings and incorporated feedback into the policy and
pricing. Both boards feel that these gift levels were competitive and fair. Staff is also
asking to allow the County Manager authority to add future amenities. Naming
rights are only for premier amenities, which would be for ten years, rather than five
or less for lower level amenities. Ms. Minter said the County is prepared to accept
money and just needs to fine tune the contracts with the Legal Department.
LCG Sponsorship Policy (Revised
9.21.23).pdf Sponsorship Pamphlet Draft.pdf
Sponsorship Pricing DRAFT .pdf
Motion: Motion to approve the Lee County Sponsorship/Naming Rights Policy
and proposed pricing sheet.
Mover: Dr. Andre Knecht
For: 7 - Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver,
Mark Lovick, Taylor Vorbeck
Motion Result: Passed
IV.B Participation in the Central Pines Regional Council Grant Assistance Program
Commissioner Bill Carver asked to consider participation in the Central Pines
Regional Council's grant assistance program at the August 21, 2023 Board of
Commissioners meeting, which was then tabled until the October 2, 2023 meeting.
At that time, the Board directed County Manger Lisa Minter and staff to research this
item and reach out to surrounding counties and get their feedback on the program.
Commissioner Carver noted that the council would be willing to prorate the cost
since the County would be starting late if approved tonight. He feels it is a
reasonable risk to invest $20,000 based on the returns that the program has
obtained for other agencies. Commissioner Mark Lovick expressed concerns that
the County doesn't currently have enough staff to administer grant funds and that if
the County hired a grant administrator position, we could then participate in the
program. Commissioner Taylor Vorbeck shared similar concerns and feels the
program would be a good return on investment, but would like to be better situated
to participate possibly next year after a grant administrator is in place. Ms. Minter
said the counties that have participated in the program do have grant administrators
on staff. She noted that the County can't do a lot with $20,000 in regards to grants
right now, but it could be allocated to hire a grant administrator position. Ms. Minter
also recognized Suzy Lagunas Brito, Lee County AmeriCorps Fellow, for
researching the program and to help the County manage the grants we currently
have. Ms. Minter said if the County had a dedicated grant administrator, that position
could research grants in the Council's grant database and direct departments to
them, as well as find out if there are ongoing costs associated.
Central_Pines_Grant_program.pdf
3
