LEE COUNTY
Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow
LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ITEM ABSTRACT ITEM NO. IV. E.
XX Information
Meeting Date: February 4, 2013 _ Action Item
Consent Agenda
SUBJECT Agenda Management — IPAD proposal
DEPARTMENT Administration / IT
CONTACT PERSON John Crumpton / Kyle Edwards
REQUEST Consider Purchasing IPAD's to be used by the Commissioners for
Agenda Management.
SUMMARY Chairman Parks asked that Administration and IT look into the use
of IPAD's for agenda management. Currently, the County Clerk makes 12 sets of paper agenda's
for each meeting. She already is copying the agenda to a PDF file for public review. This PDF
file can be copied onto the IPAD in Goodreader, which will allow the user to read and make notes
in the file. This process saves time and money for the staff and County. The City of Sanford and
the Lee County Board of Education are already using this system. Kyle Edwards can show each
Commissioner how the system works. Since this is the first meeting where this issue is being
discussed, we are not asking for a vote on the proposal. After the meeting, I encourage each of
you to talk with Kyle and test out an IPAD.
BUDGET IMPACT See attached letter from the County Manager — Funds will be
transferred from fund balance to pay for the IPAD's and setup cost. If approved, the
Commissioners can have the option of purchasing the IPAD's themselves or leaving the units as
County Property.
ATTACHMENT(S)
PUBLIC HEARING
PRIOR BOARD ACTION
RECOMMENDATION
Letter from County Manager
No
N/A
Information Only At This Time.
