MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />J <br />FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Friday, March 20, 1981 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room in the Lee County <br />, <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. <br />the same being the time, date, and place specified in the motion of adjournment. <br />Those present were Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. <br />Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman K. S. Harmon pre- <br />sided and the following business was transacted: <br />The Board proceeded to open bids for purchase of automobiles for <br />the Sheriff's Department. The bids received were as follows: <br />Slate Pontiac $ 25,691.76 <br />Womble Chevrolet $ 25, 298. 25 <br />Mid State Ford $ 25, 255. 98 <br />Upon examination it was determined that Mid State Ford bid was to <br />furnish a 2 barrel carburetor while the bid specifications required a four barrel <br />carburetor. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the bid of Womble Chevrolet be <br />accepted. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the Board <br />and presented the recommendations of City Rehabilitation Services, Inc., with respect <br />to the bids received on rehabilitation projects. The bids and recommendations were <br />reviewed and discussed. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the bids be <br />accepted pending. approval of the bidder's ability to perform, as follows: <br />Contract No. and Owner Amount <br />Bidder <br />#06, <br />William Parker <br />$ 14, 650. 00 <br />Daniel <br />Everwine <br />#22, <br />Elsie Feaster <br />13,950. 00 <br />Daniel <br />Everwine <br />#25, <br />Paul Marks <br />7, 475. 00 <br />Daniel <br />Everwine <br />and that the bids received on Nos. 12, 19, 09, and 10, be rejected and rebid to obtain <br />more competitive proposals. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
