boy 10 +Cr ~'q <br />Case Power & Equipment Company <br />1150C Loader 62, 720. 00 <br />Mr. Bobby Johnson, Manager of the County Landfill, took the <br />bids to present a recommendation to the Board later on at this meeting. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution <br />designating May 9, 1981 through May 16, 1981, as "Carolina Brick Week", a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part <br />hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Bill Hartman, County Manager, reported to the Board that an <br />appropriation adjustment designated as No. 810302, had been issued which transferred <br />$135. 20 from contract services to equipment in the budget appropriation for the <br />Board of Elections. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that Dr. J. M. McKinnon, <br />be appointed as Rabies Inspector for Lee County, to carry out a program of <br />vaccination in the manner prescribed by law. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board resolve to <br />establish and operate a Youth Shelter Program and to contract with Lutheran Family <br />Services for the operation of same. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Bobby Johnson, Landfill Supervisor, appeared before the Board <br />and recommended that the Board purchase the front end loader, Model FL10C, <br />offered by E. F. Craven Company, for the price of $44, 732. 61. Mr. Johnson <br />reported that the pay loader model offered by N. C. Equipment Company did not <br />meet specifications and that therefore this machine offered by E. F. Craven Company <br />was in fact the low bid. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the E. F. <br />Craven Company bid in the amount of $44, 732. 61, for a used front end loader, be <br />accepted. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director, re-appeared before the <br />Board and moved that the bids received onthe Rehabilitation House Project Contract <br />Nos. 10, 12 and 19, be approved, in favor of Terry Ward, who was the low bidder. <br />Mr. Buchanan stated that HUD would have to approve the bid on Contract No. 9. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the low bids on Contracts Nos. 10, 12 <br />and 19, as submitted by Mr. Terry Ward, be approved and accepted. Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the request of Zola <br />Inez Thomas, for release from taxes on property doubled listed to her and to Nello <br />Thomas, in Cape Fear Township, be approved, and that further, the monthly <br />
