eoo~ ip <br />adopted. <br />The Board next discussed the project concerning the Dam in San- <br />Lee Park. One of the alternatives being explored relating to spill way solution <br />was anaarm system to notify people down stream from the dam in the event of a <br />flood. ' <br />The Board next reviewed the 201'Sanford Area Waste Water <br />Facilities Plan Study. Mr. Craig Morgan, of Boney & Associates, reviewed the <br />proposal and discussed the matter generally with the Board, following which Comm- <br />issioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the contract with Boney and Associates be <br />approved and the Chairman be authorized to sign same for and on behalf of the County. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan reported on the sewer line project at the <br />Lee County Industrial Park. <br />Mr. Donn Gunderson, Director of the Department of Social Services, <br />appeared before the Board and advised the Board that according to the figures available <br />to him that the budget for Medicaide would be short $55, 000. 00 and the budget for Aid <br />to Families with Dependent Children would be short $25, 000. 00. During Mr. <br />Gunderson's presentation, Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke joined the meeting <br />and he participated in the further deliberations of the Board. Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen moved that $43, 000. 00 be appropriated from State Aid To Counties and <br />$37, 000. 00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund and <br />transferred to the Department of Social Services appropriation, with $55, 000. 00 <br />being appropriated for Medicaide and $25, 000. 00 being appropriated for Aid to <br />Families with Dependent Children. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the <br />motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Dotterer, Funderburke, Nielsen, <br />Wicker and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Board next proceeded to receive bids for heating and air- <br />conditioning and electrical work at the Sheriff's Department. The bids received <br />are shown on the bid tabulation sheet entitled "Phase 1 - Alterations Lee County <br />Sheriffs Department", which are attached to these minutes and by this reference <br />made a part hereof. Following a review of the bids, Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker moved that the low bid of Cooper Oil Company in the amount of $15, 900. 00, <br />for the heating and air-conditioning work, be accepted and that the low bid of Hogue <br />Electrical Company, of Lillington, in the amount of $8, 000. 00, be accepted. Comm- <br />issioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />
