8 600K 10 "1°{ I <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 6, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North, Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room in the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. <br />Those present were Commissioners K. S. Harmon, John E. Dotterer, Lila P. <br />Nielsen, 'and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke was absent <br />when.the meeting opened. Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />Reverend Joe Morgan, Pastor of the First Calvary Baptist Church, <br />opened the meeting with prayer. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 16, 1981, were <br />corrected to show that the Board of Equalization and Review will meet from April 22, <br />1981 until May 4, 1981, and with that correction, they were approved and ordered <br />recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />A letter from the District Engineer, Division of Highways, Depart- <br />ment of Transportation, concerning the roads in the Colonial - Wildwood Subdivision <br />was presented to the Board. The subdivision roads were not accepted for addition to <br />the State System because the roads were not in an acceptable condition. There was not <br />sufficient home density and one of the roads traverse a dam which had not been <br />approved by the Dam Safety Division. <br />The Board also discussed the request that the section of old U. S. <br />421 be named Forestwood Park Drive. Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker, it was directed that a public hearing on naming the road be advertised and <br />scheduled as soon as possible. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director,' appeared before the Board <br />and reviewed the Grants Administration report submitted to the Board for this <br />meeting. Mr. Buchanan presented to the Board and reviewed with then, a resolution <br />concerning Citizen Participation in the Community Development Block Grant Program. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the resolution entitled ''A Resolution Of <br />The Board Of Commissioners Of Lee County Concerning Citizen Participation In The <br />Community Development Block Grant Program", a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be approved and adopted.
