~DOK n
1o arc 86
The Board next proceeded to open bids for the purchase of a
pick up truck for use by the Lee County Maintenance Department. Although invitations
had been sent to six companies, only one bid was received and that was from Womble
Chevrolet Company, which was a bid for $7, 621.02, tax included. No action was
taken on the bid at this meeting.
It was reported to the Board that Lee County Hospital held various
shares of common stock and the Board was requested to determine what disposition
they wished made of this property. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the
County Manager be authorized and directed to take such steps as may be appropriate
for the lawful sale of such stock. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion
and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
The County Manager reported on the status of the telephone in the ante-
room off from the Superior Court Room.
The County Manager's letter to the Board on budget matters was
called to their attention and all members were invited to participate in the budget
session which would be held during the coming week.
The members were reminded that they would meet on the following
day as a Board of Equalization and Review, beginning at 9:30 o'clock a. m.
Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that he was receiving
numerous inquiries about the vacancy on the staff of the Recreation Department and
felt since this appointment would be made by the Recreation Department, that some-
one was giving out incorrect information pertaining to this position.
There being no further business to come before the session, the
meeting was adjourned, sine die.
CHAIRMAN
