6DOK 10 r;,rc <br />11 9 <br />of levying and collecting a special tax on all taxable <br />property in said district, of not exceeding fifteen cents <br />(15~) of~'the one hundred dollars ($100. 00) valuation of <br />property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in <br />said district. <br />2) That the Lee County Board of Elections shall <br />advertise and conduct said election, in accordance with <br />the provisions of Article 3A, Chapter 69, of the General <br />Statutes of North Carolina, and with the procedures pres- <br />cribed in Chapter 163 of the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina, governing the conduct of special and general <br />elections. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the membership list <br />for the West Sanford Rural Fire Department, be approved and certified to the <br />appropriate authorities for insurance purposes. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The request of the Lee County Group Home for use of the residence <br />owned by the County at 117 Hillcrest Avenue, was referred to the County Manager, <br />with authority to negotiate for an appropriate lease, upon motion of Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, <br />and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The request of the Lee County Council on Aging, for commitment to <br />obtain federal monies for the nutrition program and social service delivery <br />(Titles III and B & C) was presented to the Board. Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />moved that the appropriate officials be authorized to execute the commitment letter <br />for the continuation of this program. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The budget for the Department of Social Services was presented <br />to the Board and reviewed. The budget for the Department of Social Services was <br />approved subject to amendment to conform to the action taken on salaries for <br />other county employees, upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded <br />by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a <br />vote. <br />The County Manager, Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , announced <br />there would be a budget session on Wednesday, May 27, 1981, and he also <br />
