109 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 18, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room, in the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7 o'clock p. m. , on <br />Monday, May 18, 1981. Those present when the meeting opened were Commissioners <br />John E. Dotterer, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The County Manager, Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , gave the <br />invocation. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on May 4, 1981, were <br />approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, <br />which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, and unanimously <br />adopted, upon a vote. <br />The question of whether or not the County should join in a petition <br />to close Garden Street between Elm and Horner Boulevard, was brought up and <br />discussed by the Board. The appropriate county officials were authorized to execute <br />and sign an application for the closing of said street, upon motion of Commissioner <br />John E. Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted upon a vote. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke joined the <br />meeting and participated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen presented a petition signed by a <br />majority of the residents in the neighborhood of Carbonton, requesting that the loop <br />road known as Secondary Road 1321 be known as the Woolard Road, in honor of Mrs. <br />Lessie Woolard. Commissioner Nielsen moved that a public hearing be scheduled <br />and held on this matter. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The contract of Hogue Electric Company, for work at the Lee <br />County Sheriff's office, was presented to the Board. The Chairman was authorized <br />to sign the contract for and on behalf of the County, upon motion made by Commiss- <br />ioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Jack D. <br />Funderburke and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />
