BOOK 10 SAGE VA <br />It was reported to the Board that Mrs. Lessie Smith had resigned <br />from the Board of Directors of Johnston-Lee Community Action, Inc. Mr. Leon J. <br />Penny, Executive Director, requested that the Board select a replacement as soon <br />as possible. The Board directed that the Lee County Supervisor be consulted concern- <br />ing her recommendation as to a replacement. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that Mr. Kenneth Brinson <br />be re-appointed to the Board of Adjustment of the City of Sanford. Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />It was reported to the Board that Mrs. Marsha Penny had declined <br />to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />stated he had a person he wished to nominate and withdrew from the meeting to find <br />out if the party would serve. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that Mr. S. F. Westbrooke <br />be appointed as Lee County Tax Supervisor for the two year period from July 1, 1981 <br />until June 30, 1983, or until his successor is appointed and qualifies. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that at the written request of <br />the taxpayers listed herein and pursuant to the provisions of General Statute 105-312(k) <br />that relief, and where appropriate, refund be made of the late listing penalty applied to <br />the discovery of unlisted inventory in the amount indicated for the following taxpayers: <br />Metal Building Constructors, Inc. $ 25. 20 <br />W. S. W. Co. , Inc. $311.19 <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />it was adopted on a roll call vote wherein Commissioners Funderburke, Dotterer, <br />Nielsen and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that relief and refund, where <br />appropriate, be granted to the taxpayers listed on the monthly relief report for the <br />amounts indicated on the report for June, 1981, a copy of which is attached and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the <br />motion and it was adopted upon a roll callvote wherein Commissioners Funderburke, <br />Dotterer, Nielsen, and Harmon voted for its adoption and no one voted against it. <br />The Board next considered the contract of employment between the <br />Board and Cameron & Hager, as special county attorneys for social service matters. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the draft of the contract as submitted to the <br />Board be approved and the Chairman be authorized and directed to execute the contract <br />for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
