0 B06K 10 ?ACE 169 <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan appeared before the Board and presented a <br />resolution regarding a grant for airport improvements. The matter was discussed <br />following which Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that $1, 200. 00 be transferred <br />from the Airport Reserve Fund to the General Fund in order to make the funds <br />available to the Airport Commission for use as matching funds. Commissioner Jack <br />D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Dott- <br />erer, Funderburke, Nielsen, Wicker and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against <br />it. <br />A motion was made by Lee County Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />and seconded by Lee County Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke for the adoption of <br />the following resolution, and upon being put to a vote was duly accepted: <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation, Airport Division, has offered a grant <br />in the amount of $5, 041. 00; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />has accepted as extended, the grant in the amount of $5, 041. 00; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, an amount of $5,041. 00 as matching funds <br />has been appropriated by the Sanford-Lee County Airport <br />Commission for this project; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED <br />that the Chairman of the Sanford-Lee County Airport Commission <br />be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to enter into a <br />Grant Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Trans- <br />portation, Airport Division, thereby binding the Sanford-Lee <br />County Airport Commission to the fulfillment of its obligations <br />incurred under this Grant Agreement. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan presented a resolution concerning the <br />North Carolina Balanced Growth Policy for consideration by the Board. After <br />discussion, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the LEE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS considers it to be to the best interest of <br />the citizens of Lee County to join the City of Sanford with <br />an application identifying an area for a Balanced Growth <br />Center; and <br />
