BOOK 10 pnr 222 C) <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke moved that the Grants <br />Department be authorized to advertise for re-bidding on three houses in connection <br />with the Rehabilitation Program in San-Lee Heights. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />It was reported to the Board that the Board of Elections had held <br />and conducted the election in the Northview Fire District on the question of levying <br />a tax in said district for fire protection and that the election was held on July 21, <br />1981, and that those voting in favor of a tax for fire protection in the Northview <br />Fire District were "66" and those voting against a tax for fire protection in said <br />District were "13", and that accordingly, a majority of the qualified voters had <br />voted in favor of levying and collecting the tax in said district and therefore, the <br />Board is authorized and directed to levy and collect the tax in said district. <br />It was also reported to the Board that the Board of Elections had <br />held and conducted the election in the Deep River Fire District on the question of <br />levying a tax in said district for fire protection and that the election was held on <br />July 21, 1981, and that those voting in favor of a tax for fire protection in the Deep <br />River Fire District were 1196" and those voting against a tax for fire protection in <br />said District were "6111, and that accordingly, a majority of the qualified voters <br />had voted in favor of levying and collecting the tax in said district and therefore, the <br />Board is authorized and directed to levy and collect the tax in said district. <br />The Board reviewed the other reports received and Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker advised the Board that the Attorney General had told him that <br />the County may convey any land for the purpose of constructing or expanding fire <br />department facilities if the volunteer fire department provided fire protection services <br />to the County under G. S. 160A-277. <br />The County Manager was asked to determine whether or not the <br />air-conditioning unit formerly used at the jail could be used at the Floyd Knight <br />School. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it <br />was, upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, adjourned until 2:00 o'clock <br />p. m. , August 7, 1981, to re-convene in the Commissioners Room of the County <br />Office Building. <br />N <br />
