-0 <br />BOOK 22 PAGE 151 <br />classroom teachers/regular program expenses and board and central office <br />administration. <br />• Commissioner Shook questioned how much the schools spend in sales tax that <br />is not refunded. <br />Review of Fire District Budget Requests - Mr. Crumpton and Fire Marshal Shane <br />Seagroves discussed budgets submitted by the eight (8) volunteer fire departments. A flat <br />rate tax verses individual district rates was discussed. Mr. Seagroves stated the Fire <br />Advisory Board cannot come to a consensus on the flat tax issue at this time. A public <br />hearing must be held on the fire department budgets prior to approval. Mr. Donald <br />Andrews, Chairman of the Lee County Fire Advisory Board will present the fire departments <br />budgets at the June 16, 2008 meeting. A required public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m., <br />Monday, June 23, 2008. <br />Review of Lee County Surplus Property - Mr. Crumpton presented a list of Lee County <br />surplus property which totals $179,000. <br />• Commissioner Kelly recommended a modified list of parcels be completed, <br />present to the full Board for approval and notify adjacent property owners that <br />surplus property is available if they should be interested. It was also noted <br />interested parties would have to go through the upset bid process once the <br />Board declares property surplus and begins the advertising process. <br />Other Business - A budget work session of the full Board will be held at 1:00 p.m., <br />Monday, June 16, 2008, prior to the regular 3:00 p.m. meeting. The meeting will be held in <br />the Commissioners' Room at the Lee County Government Center. <br />Commissioner Shook asked that an additional public hearing be held for the FY 2008-09 <br />budget. The Finance Committee agreed to hold an additional budget public hearing at 5:30 <br />p.m., Monday, June 23, 2008. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners' Room at the <br />Lee County Government Center. <br />With no further business to come before the Committee, Commissioner Kelly moved to <br />adjourn the Finance Committee meeting.
