ao~ 10 <br />upon a vote, Commissioners Dotterer, Funderburke, Nielsen and Harmon <br />voted for it and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker voted against it. The Chairman <br />declared that the resolution had been adopted by a majority vote. <br />Mr. Taylor Uzzell appeared before the Board as a representative <br />of the Integon Insurance Company and discussed changes in the insurance program for <br />employees as contrasted with the former program edited by Etna Insurance Company. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that Budget Amendment <br />entitled "Appropriation Adjustment #81081703, a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The report on the Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department, was <br />presented to the Board and reviewed. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the <br />County designate the area shown on the map and described on the exhibit entitled <br />"Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 4 MI Response", as the Lemon Springs <br />Fire District for insurance grading purposes, pursuant to the authority given under <br />General Statutes 153A-233. <br />The Board next discussed the request from the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission for a change in the voting site in East Sanford from the Armory building. <br />The Board preferred that the election site remain at the Armory and discussed ways <br />by which the`basketball court and playing area be preserved and protected from abuse. <br />The Board authorized the re-application for and on behalf of the Parks <br />and Recreation Commission for a grant from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, Inc. , <br />upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, duly seconded by Commissioner Jack <br />D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager reported that he had had a request from a <br />resident in Quail Ridge Subdivision for the adoption of a dog leash law for that area. <br />The matter was discussed but no formal action was taken. ' <br />The Chairman reported on his attendance at the State Convention of <br />the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that bus services. between <br />Sanford and Chapel Hill and Durham was going to be terminated after September 9, <br />1981. Commissioner Wicker moved that the Board adopt a resolution requesting that <br />a bus service from Sanford to Durham be maintained to permit other persons going <br />to the hospitals in that area to have a means of transportation, and that a copy of <br />said resolution be furnished to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />
