seo~ 10 mpp 2 0 <br />at Lee County, at an estimated cost of $7, 000. 00; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY <br />RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners be and he hereby is authorized and empow- <br />ered to enter into a contract with the Department of Trans- <br />portation as may be necessary to effectuate the aforesaid <br />expressed purpose, thereby binding the said County Board <br />of Commissioners to the fulfillment of its obligation in- <br />curred under this resolution and to its agreement to pay <br />any amounts that may become due under the agreement on <br />a cost reimbursement basis until said obligations are fully <br />paid. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board <br />and requested authority for the County to assign its bid on the property belonging to <br />Ellen McIver Scott, adjoining West Price Street to John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , in <br />consideration of his promise to pay the amount of the County's bid at the Sheriff's <br />sale. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the Board make such assignment <br />and that the Chairman and Clerk be authorized and directed to execute such an assign- <br />ment. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, presented a list of all of the <br />land owners who have .unpaid taxes outstanding on the 1980 tax levy. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke moved that the Tax Collector be authorized and empowered to <br />initiate procedures for foreclosure under General Statutes 105-375, which is the <br />in rem method of foreclosure. The motion was seconded and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , County Manager, called the Board's <br />attention to the reply received from the City Manager of the City of Sanford, giving <br />the County sixty days to advise the City of their intent respecting the use of the old <br />City Hall structure. <br />The Board next took under consideration, a resolution re-organizing <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission of Lee County. Mr. Taylor Uzzell, Chairman <br />of the Parks and Recreation Commission, appeared before the Board and presented <br />the views of the Parks and Recreation Commission and the amendments which they had <br />suggested. The matter was discussed at length, following which Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer moved that the resolution establishing the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />presented to this meeting be amended so that in the last sentence in the last paragraph <br />of Section 8, the word "may" be deleted and in lieu thereof shall be inserted the word <br />"shall", so that the sentence, as amended shall read: "The Parks & Recreation <br />Commission shall consult with and advise the County Manager in these actions. and <br />as so amended, the resolution, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof, be adopted and thereby in full force and effect from such <br />adoption on this date.
