boos 10 i',.a 23l <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, August 17, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Monday, August 17, 1981, at <br />7:00 o'clock p. m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were <br />Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. <br />Nielsen and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and <br />the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following busin <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the County Manager, Mr. Walter B. <br />Hartman, Jr. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on Monday, August 3, 1981, were <br />approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, <br />seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was unanimously adopted <br />upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, education is a vital part of the well- <br />being and development of the County of Lee; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners have been <br />requested to designate September 21, 1981 as "Lee County <br />Public Education Day"; and <br />WHEREAS, this designation has been approved and <br />endorsed by the Lee County Board of Education; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE <br />COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS THAT SEPTEMBER <br />21, 1981, IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED TO BE "LEE COUNTY <br />PUBLIC EDUCATION DAY". <br />
