sec, 14 ,st 20 <br />r <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />1. J, <br />Tuesday, September 8, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened on Tuesday, September 8, 1981, at 9:30 <br />o'clock a. m. , in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, Monday, September 7, 1981, <br />having been observed as a public holiday. Those present when the meeting opened <br />were Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. <br />The Reverend Dave Early, Assistant Pastor of the First Baptist <br />Church, of Sanford, North Carolina, gave the invocation. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer joined the meeting and participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the minutes of the <br />August 7th and August 17th meetings be approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />There were no road petitions for the Board to consider, however, <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker brought up for discussion, matters pertaining to the <br />lower Moncure Road. <br />Mr. Robert T. Bain, Jr. , Architect, appeared before the Board and <br />presented his report as to the condition of the old City Hall Building. Several re- <br />presentatives of the Council On Aging and the Senior Citizens organization, spoke on <br />behalf of the County accepting this building. Among those appearing before the Board <br />were Mrs. Grace Hodges, Mrs. Reggie Durham, Mr. Stacy Grant, Mr. Harvey <br />Faulk, and Reverend Bob Brown. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the <br />Board tour and inspect the building and defer action on the City's offer until after that <br />time. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
