Commissioner Gordon A.
Wicker moved that the resolution accepting the grant in the amount of $500, 000. 00,
a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, be
adopted. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote
it was unanimously adopted.
Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan presented to the Board, the recommendation
of the Community Development Council that the proposal of Bracken & Associates
for engineering services in the amount of $27, 800. 00, be accepted. Commissioner
John E. Dotterer moved that the recommendations of the Community Development
Council be accepted and that the firm of Bracken & Associates be employed to perform
engineering services on the Deep River Water line project for the contract price of
$27, 800. 00. Environ-
mental Protection Agency, dated September 9, 1981, concerning the environmental
impact statement on the Deep River Water line project. The letter was read to the
Board by the Clerk.
It was noted that Bracken & Associates were permitted to begin
work on the Deep River Water line project; however, it was likewise noted that work
done by the engineers prior to final approval of this project is done at the engineer's
risk and Mr. Bracken, who was in presence, acknowledged that he was aware that
the work he was performing at the present time was at his risk.
Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the Board adopt the
budget for a single purpose Community Development Block Grant Program in the
Deep River School area, as set forth in the 1981-83 budget for HUD Project No.
B-81-DN-37-0076, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made
a part hereof. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a
vote it was unanimously adopted.
Commissioner John E. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it
was unanimously adopted.
The request of the Lee County Board of Education for permission
to park school buses on the County Home property was referred to the County
Manager.
