DOK 10 P4cE 289 <br />seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Dotterer, Funderburke, <br />Nielsen, Wicker and Harmon votedfor it and no one voted against it. <br />The County Manager advised the Board that a group from Franklin <br />County wished to meet with the Board and discuss with them hospital matters. The <br />meeting was arranged for Wednesday, October 14, 1981, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. <br />Sheriff Harold R. Thomas appeared before the Board and discussed <br />the facilities at the Lee County jail and the security measures presently in force in <br />connection with the operation of that facility. The matter was discussed at some <br />length following which Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the Sheriff be <br />authorized to hire one additional jailer at this time and that the Sheriff report back <br />to the Board concerning plans for the improvement of the facility, the plans for the <br />clothing of the prisoners and the installation of a sound alarm. Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the sum of $48. 12 <br />be refunded to Gertrude C. Shaw for an error in the listing of her property and that <br />the sum of $39. 09 be refunded to Mary C. Thompson for errors in the valuation of a <br />building and that the monthly relief report for September, 1981, a copy of which is <br />attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, be approved and authorized. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution authorizing the sale of certain personal property at public auction: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the County <br />of Lee, desires to dispose of certain surplus property of the <br />C ounty; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, THAT: <br />1. The following described property is hereby <br />declared to be surplus to the needs of the County: <br />1977 Ford, speedometer broken, serial number <br />7H27H168061, motor blown up; <br />1978 Ford, mileage- 199, 747, serial number <br />8H27H155638, in very poor condition; <br />1978 Ford, mileage-226, 208, serial number <br />8H27H155637, in very poor condition; <br />
