Mr. Edwards stated that Lee <br />County currently has more than thirty (30) towers with seven (7) providers already offering service in <br />the area and two (2) more anticipating a move to the area. He further stated that hundreds of towers <br />will be needed in the Triangle area in the near future and encouraged Lee County to consider tower <br />placement on government property. Such placement could benefit government property by bringing <br />in more than $25,000 per year from each carrier that uses the tower. Mr. Edwards stated a master <br />plan would take six to eight months to complete and that $40,000 has been budgeted in the upcoming <br />fiscal year for such a plan. No action was taken. <br />Finance Director Lisa Minter presented the Monthly Financial Report for the month ending <br />March 2008. Commissioner Kelly moved to accept the report as presented. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Brown, Kelly, Lemmond, Quiggle, Reives, and Shook <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented an update on the Community Development Block <br />Grant (CDBG) program. It was noted the project is going well and all projects will be completed on <br />schedule. No action was taken. <br />Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee was recognized as being selected to serve a three-year term <br />on the North Carolina County Clerks' Board of Directors. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Brown recessed the meeting at <br />4:45 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. <br />Chairman Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Courtroom #4 at the old Lee <br />County Courthouse, 1408 S. Horner Blvd. Commissioners present were Robert H. Brown, James C. <br />Kelly, John T. Quiggle, and Jerry M. Lemmond. Commissioners Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. <br />Reives, and Linda A. Shook were absent. <br />Chairman Brown opened the joint public hearing that had been advertised for this date and <br />time with the Lee County Planning Board. <br />Planner Althea Thompson outlined the rezoning request submitted by Mr. Archie Brooks to <br />rezone approximately 7.36 acres of land located at 283 Saw Mill Road, off US Highway 1 South, from <br />Residential Agricultural (RA) district to Light Industrial (LI) district. <br />Mr. Archie Brooks, owner of the above property, spoke in favor of the rezoning request. <br />No one present spoke in opposition to the rezoning request. <br />Chairman Brown closed the public hearing. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Lemmond moved to <br />adjourn the meeting.
