0 0
BOOK 22 PACE 36
February 15, 2008
724 Duke Dr.
Sanford, NC 27330
Jerry Lemmond
1403 Spring Lane
Sanford, NC 27330
Dear Commissioner Lemmond,
I am writing to encourage your support of resolutions that make the 0.25% sales tax increase a
reality. I also encourage you to pledge that the money raised will go to the renovation and renewal of
Lee County High School. Please tie these two items together firmly so that voters will know that when
they vote for the tax increase in May that they are voting to update and modernize the high school.
As a citizen of Sanford, I am very concerned that all of the newspaper coverage about the delay
in renovations has already gone on too long. Every story and letter about the deteriorating school that
is published makes our community look bad, and rightly so. We must get that school fixed up with all
deliberate speed so that our community can continue to move forward. The campuses of all of our
schools impact the dropout rate of our students and prepare our children to become successful adults.
We improve the future of the county when we help students succeed.
Thank you for supporting the students of Lee County and for protecting our future by voting to
make this tax money go to the renovations at Lee County High School.
Sincerely,
9 V
6~~ Jason Davenport
FEB 18
1~
