.
BOOK 22 PiGE 761
Mr. Crumpton stated that Parks and Recreation wished to make changes to their schedule
of fees and charges to more accurately recover costs associated with the services offered. If
approved, approximately $11,000 will be generated in additional revenues. The revised fee
schedule has been approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission and if approved will be
effective July 1, 2009, and adopted as part of the budget.
The Board discussed fire department budgets for the eight volunteer fire departments that
will be presented at the 6:00 p.m. meeting. Concerns were expressed with the fact that the West
Sanford Fire Department may have to raise their fire tax rate to the maximum of $ .15 cents per
$100 of property value. Five of the eight districts would see increases, while three would see
decreases under the proposed recommendation.
The Board discussed the contractual arrangements with the City of Sanford and Town of
Broadway with regards to the Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The funding formula was
discussed and a proposal was presented to reduce the amount the County contributes to EDC.
The arrangement the County had with the Chamber of Commerce several years ago was also
discussed. During discussion, some of the Commissioner stated they did not want to reduce the
funding this late in the budget process.
With no other business to come before the Board, Chairman Hayes adjourned the budget
work session.
Richard B.
