BK - 00025 PG:0213 <br />• Purchase order to Macthrift Office Furniture, not to exceed $35,000, for <br />new furniture for the Summit Street building. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Pursuant to N.C. General Statute 153A -52.1, Chairman Shook opened the floor for <br />Public Comments. The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for <br />comments: <br />Mr. Kirk Smith, 3108 Avents Ferry Road, Sanford <br />4 -H Director Bill Stone introduced Michelle Sellers from the Barn Buster 4 -H Club and <br />Farm -City Week Chairman David Patterson who presented a Proclamation for Farm -City Week <br />and activities that will be held during the week of November 16 -22, 2012. Commissioner Parks <br />moved to approve the Proclamation, which was read by Commissioner Oldham, a copy of <br />which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Community Development Director Bob Bridwell gave an update /report on the Lee <br />County Land Use Plan and Greenwood Small Area Plan. Mr. Bridwell stated the Greenwood <br />Plan, which was adopted in 2005, was two years in the planning process, and the 2020 Land <br />Use Plan needs to be updated. Chairman Shook provided a copy of the Feasibility Study for <br />the Tramway area which was provided to Commissioners and Mr. Bridwell. No action was <br />taken. <br />The Board considered a Capital Project Ordinance for the Southern Lee Boosters <br />Athletic Building. County Manager John Crumpton stated he had received a check in the <br />amount of $32,100 from the Boosters Club for the new building project. To date he has not <br />received sealed architectural drawings as requested by the Board at their last meeting. Interim <br />County Attorney Neil Yarborough stated he had concerns with the current drawings submitted <br />since it is to be a two -story building in an area where children will be. He stated there were <br />benefits in having sealed architectural drawings, although they are not required under the City - <br />County Building Code. Commissioner Womack stated he was comfortable with forgoing the <br />sealed drawings and to use contingency funds to cover that cost (which would be <br />approximately $1,500 - $1,800), and find a way for the Inspections Department to keep close <br />tabs on the inspection process.
