1/26/2023 <br /> UDO updates Phase II — Multi-family and non- <br /> residential <br /> • Similar to the process used in Phase I, Planning staff would: <br /> • Engage a third-party planning consultant to assist with the ordinance <br /> re-write and public engagement <br /> • Staff and consultant would work closely with and take direction from <br /> the Joint Planning Commission (representation from Sanford, Broadway <br /> and Lee County). <br /> • Would engage with key stakeholders (SAGA for example on the <br /> industrial rules/zoning updates; Bill Stone/Ag Extension for rural zoning <br /> districts/new conservation districts?) <br /> • Anticipate kicking this project off once the Phase I project is <br /> completed (projected late summer/fall of this year). <br /> Update to PlanSanLee <br /> • As mentioned, our plan is now dated and needs some attention. <br /> • Development patterns and market demands have significantly <br /> increased in our community. <br /> • The plan is the primary tool planning staff uses to try and guide <br /> developers to areas identified for their style/type of <br /> development. <br /> • The validity and usefulness of this plan as a vision/policy guide <br /> for future growth needs to be updated regularly to remain <br /> relevant. <br /> 4 <br />
