BK:00025 PG:0208 County Manager's Report — October 15, 2012 Ongoing Proiects Clyde Rhyne Road - Industrial Park Project - The Wooten Company continues to push permitting through the process. They have done a very good job in working with NCDOT and DENR on getting this project permitted. It will still be a challenge to get the road paved before the end of the paving season (November /December). Courthouse /Basement Project - The Contractor for the basement renovation is now 90 percent complete. We are still expecting completion by the end of October. County staff continues to work with the State 911 Board on back up 911 certification. Equipment for the backup cannot be purchased until the certification process is complete. We will be finished with construction and will be moving Emergency Management and the Sheriff's secondary PSAP in to the completed areas in November. However, due to delays in getting financial numbers for the backup system it will probably be late spring before the backup system can be completed. Buchanan Park Renovations — Work has been completed and the grand re- opening of the park occurred on September 22 " Vice Chairman Parks did a great job with the ceremony. Special thanks goes out to all those involved with the rebuilding, especially our local LOWES Hardware store. They contributed money and time to the project. Chiller for Government Center — Installation is complete. Work has now started on the heat/boiler system. All equipment has been delivered to the Government Center and raised by crane to the top of the building. Installation should be completed by the end of October. Other Items County Strategic Planning Process Update — Dan Parks and Ted Abernathy representing the SBTDC have started their meetings with community leaders. The purpose of this phase of the process is to get input from various stakeholders concerning economic development in Lee County. The list of people to interview was gathered during the meetings that Mr. Parks and Mr. Abernathy conducted with the Commissioners and County staff. The stakeholder meetings will take a couple of weeks to complete. After that Dan and Ted will be meeting with the Board to discuss the results of their fact finding efforts. Solid Waste Issues — The City of Sanford is committed to bidding their residential collection services. They made this decision back in May /June, yet as of the writing of this report have not bid the services. By delaying the bid the City has put the County in
