BK:00025 PG:0208 <br />County Manager's Report — October 15, 2012 <br />Ongoing Proiects <br />Clyde Rhyne Road - Industrial Park Project - The Wooten Company continues to push <br />permitting through the process. They have done a very good job in working with <br />NCDOT and DENR on getting this project permitted. It will still be a challenge to get the <br />road paved before the end of the paving season (November /December). <br />Courthouse /Basement Project - The Contractor for the basement renovation is now <br />90 percent complete. We are still expecting completion by the end of October. County <br />staff continues to work with the State 911 Board on back up 911 certification. <br />Equipment for the backup cannot be purchased until the certification process is <br />complete. We will be finished with construction and will be moving Emergency <br />Management and the Sheriff's secondary PSAP in to the completed areas in November. <br />However, due to delays in getting financial numbers for the backup system it will <br />probably be late spring before the backup system can be completed. <br />Buchanan Park Renovations — Work has been completed and the grand re- opening of <br />the park occurred on September 22 " Vice Chairman Parks did a great job with the <br />ceremony. Special thanks goes out to all those involved with the rebuilding, especially <br />our local LOWES Hardware store. They contributed money and time to the project. <br />Chiller for Government Center — Installation is complete. Work has now started on <br />the heat/boiler system. All equipment has been delivered to the Government Center <br />and raised by crane to the top of the building. Installation should be completed by the <br />end of October. <br />Other Items <br />County Strategic Planning Process Update — Dan Parks and Ted Abernathy <br />representing the SBTDC have started their meetings with community leaders. The <br />purpose of this phase of the process is to get input from various stakeholders <br />concerning economic development in Lee County. The list of people to interview was <br />gathered during the meetings that Mr. Parks and Mr. Abernathy conducted with the <br />Commissioners and County staff. The stakeholder meetings will take a couple of weeks <br />to complete. After that Dan and Ted will be meeting with the Board to discuss the <br />results of their fact finding efforts. <br />Solid Waste Issues — The City of Sanford is committed to bidding their residential <br />collection services. They made this decision back in May /June, yet as of the writing of <br />this report have not bid the services. By delaying the bid the City has put the County in <br />
