V.J Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization Application for a Statewide Planning and <br /> Research Grant <br /> This item was added onto the agenda. Commissioner Smith is a member of the <br /> Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization (TARPO) Board, and informed County <br /> staff that the TARPO Board voted to apply for a Statewide Planning and Research <br /> (SPR) grant. These funds come from the Federal Highway Administration and <br /> available for a proposed study of the US-1 Corridor from Apex to Sanford given the <br /> new Triangle Innovation Point project. The Federal funds will cover 80%, the state <br /> matches 10% with the local governments pickup the additional 10%. Matching <br /> funds paid by applicable local governments would include Chatham, Harnett, Lee, <br /> and Wake Counties. The estimate for the local match was $10,000 - $20,000. The <br /> TARPO Board suggested that the study would cover a 1/2 mile on each side of US- <br /> 1. The grant application is due the end of February 2023. The TARPO Board would <br /> like a response from each local government by January 15, 2023. <br /> Motion: Motion to approve supporting the Triangle Area Rural Planning <br /> Organization Application for a Statewide Planning and Research Grant. <br /> Mover: Robert Reives <br /> For: 6 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, <br /> Mark Lovick <br /> Absent: 1 - Cameron Sharpe <br /> Motion Result: Passed <br /> V.K Future Potential NCDOT Projects in Lee County <br /> This item was added to the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. The Lee County <br /> Transportation Planning Committee is meeting to review the list of projects. <br /> Commissioner Smith provided a potential list to include the Tramway Road/US-1/15-501 <br /> intersection, Tramway Road NC-78 congestion, Traceway intersection with NC-87 <br /> South, Colon Road widening and extension from Deep River Road to US 15-501, and <br /> Redirect Rod Sullivan Road and RR Bridge overpass to the airport. <br /> Motion: Motion to approve the list of potential highway projects in Lee County <br /> including the Tramway Road/US-1/15-501 intersection, Tramway Road NC-78 <br /> congestion, Traceway intersection with NC-87 South, Colon Road widening and <br /> extension from Deep River Road to US 15-501, and Redirect Rod Sullivan Road and <br /> RR Bridge overpass to the <br /> airport.
