qpp AW <br /> MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN LEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> AND FIRSTHEALTH OF THE CAROLINAS, INC. REGARDING CHEST <br /> COMPRESSION DEVICES <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners prioritizes the safety of all <br /> citizens and visitors of Lee County and in doing so provides emergency medical services through <br /> a franchisee agreement with FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Inc(hereinafter called FirstHealth).; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners recognize that many of the <br /> emergency medical service calls require first responders to engage in life-saving techniques, <br /> such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR); and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners approved the expenditure of <br /> $96,000.00 for the purchase of six Lucas 3 chest compression devices which provide automated <br /> chest compressions designed to provide a higher level of care for patients receiving CPR; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners will equip each of the six <br /> ambulances with a Lucas 3 chest compressor to be utilized in performing the franchise service of <br /> providing emergency medical services to all Lee County citizens and visitors; and, <br /> WHEREAS,the-Lee County Government will maintain ownership of the devices while <br /> FirstHealth will utilize the devices for the remainder of the franchise agreement or for the useful <br /> life of the devices; and, <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, Lee County Government and First Health do mutually agree as <br /> follow: <br /> 1. Lee County Government will purchase the six Stryker Lucas 3 chest compression <br /> devices and will assign asset numbers to each device. <br /> 2. FirstIealth of the Carolinas will be responsible for maintaining accountability for <br /> each device including which ambulance each device is assigned to at any given time <br /> and providing this information to Lee County Government upon request. <br /> 3. FirstHealth of the Carolinas will ensure each ambulance serving Lee County's <br /> jurisdiction will be equipped with a fully working device at all times. <br /> 4. FirstHealth of the Carolinas will ensure all of Lee County's purchased devices <br /> remain on any vehicle primarily assigned to Lee County's jurisdiction. <br />
