v1 u
Recipient's Plan to Further Fair Housing
Grantee
PO Box 1968, Sanford, NC 27331 -1968
Recipient's Address
Karen Kennedy Community Development Manager (919) 775 -8238
Contact Person Contact Phone #
karen.kennedv@sanfordnc.net 800 - 735 -2962
Contact Email TDD #:
Indicate if the Recipient will be affirmatively furthering fair housing for the first time or has
implemented specific activities in the past.
First Time Past Activities X
Identify and analyze obstacles to affirmatively furthering fair housing in recipient's
community. (Use additional pages as necessary)
Discussions with local public officials indicate that housing related industries (contractors,
lenders, realtors, appraisers) are aware of the need for fair housing; however, they lack
information regarding Federal and State fair housing legislation. Public- assisted housing
providers appear to be more knowledgeable of legislation. There seems to be a lack of
knowledge among citizens of fair housing laws and a lack of affordable dwellings for handicapped
and large families within public housing. All activities undertaken will have provisions of reaching
the visually impaired and ensure equal opportunity for housing in the community for all persons
regardless of income status.
III. Will the above activities apply to the total municipality or county?
Yes X No If no, provide an explanation.
(Use additional pages as necessary)
IV. Briefly describe the quarterly activities that the recipient will undertake over the active
period of the grant to affirmatively further fair housing in their community. A time
schedule and estimated cost for implementation of these activities must be included.
Activities must be scheduled for implementation at least on a quarterly basis. (Use
attached table)
Lee County has developed a fair housing program that includes activities that have
provisions for reaching the visually impaired and ensuring equal opportunity for housing
in the community for all persons regardless of income status. Activities scheduled for the
Lee County 2011 CDBG Program are to:
Grantee: Lee County
Quarterly Fair Housing Activity
Months
Year
Estimated
Cost
Actual
Cost
Place the Fair Housing message on the website of Lee
July -Sept.
2012
500
County and TV11.
Prepare a fair housing discrimination complaint procedure.
Oct. -Dec.
2012
160
Publish the fair housing discrimination complaint procedure
in The Sanford Herald.
