County Manager John Crumpton stated that an offer had been received to purchase the
Jonesboro Library property for $50,000.00. The offer comes from a local real estate agent, but at this
time the actual buyer wishes to remain anonymous. The property is appraised for tax value at
$149,100 from the 2007 valuation. The $50,000 offer is well below the market value. Mr. Crumpton recommended that the county decline the offer due to it
being 33% of the appraised value. After discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to accept the County
Manager's recommendation to decline the offer and authorize the County Manager to negotiate for the
property. Commissioner Womack stated he would like to see a real estate action plan put in place (a
list of all county owned property) and possibly hold an auction with the City of Sanford, Town of
Broadway and Board of Education to dispose of surplus property owned.
