C;410
Mr. Derrell Mullins, AIA
September 6, 2012
Page 3
1254
Summary Discussion:
The two buildings, while very different in age, have similar problems with roof structure/roof deck damage,
lack of proper insulation, settlement/water intrusion /cracking issues with the masonry. The basic bones of
the structures are still good; however, these major issues will all need attention prior to being able to occupy
either building, in addition to addressing exit and ADA code requirements at the Steele Street building.
Considerable funds will be required to bring the buildings to current Code and usability.
These structural comments are based on information obtained at the site and on visual observations only,
except as noted. The site inspection and this letter are not intended to cover items other than those included
herein. This letter is written solely to examine the structural integrity of the described building elements and
is not intended to cover architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, life safety or accessibility features
except as noted.
If, in the future, I may be of service on this or other projects, please feel free to contact me. Likewise, please
do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this inspection or the noted repairs. It has been
a pleasure to be of service to Mullins - Sherman Architects and to Lee County.
Very truly yours,
6VX,
Dallas Brickhouse, Jr., PE
Consulting Engineer
NC PE Registration #5617
file:GDBrick \Consulting Engineering \ClientslAmitects\Muains-Shetmm Architects \1254 \1trl.wpd
