BK:00025 PG:0081
8. Prepare Financial Responsibility Form and Erosion Control Application for
County signatures
9. Prepare stormwater permit application package and permit form for County
signatures
10. Coordinate and prepare easement plat and furnish to County as attachment to
deed of easement documents.
We are still on track for submission of plans for review to NCDOT, Land Quality and
DWQ -- 1st week of September. EDA review and advertisement for bid, etc. would
follow accordingly, once we have plan approvals. In the meantime we have addressed
the issues with Challenge Printing and received a go ahead to pave the road in front of
their new driveway access. The funds used to pave this section will come from the
project fund. We will be able to build this section without adding any cost to the total for
the project.
Courthouse /Basement Project - The Contractor for the basement renovation is now
55 percent complete. All the walls for the project are up and completed and painting
has begun. Electrical and Plumbing rough in work is complete. The hallway between
the new area and the Sheriff's office is complete. Expected completion date is October
22 nd
Buchanan Park Renovations — Work continues on this project. Parks and Recreation
and General Services are very close to completing the renovations of the Park. Lowes
has been able to put together a volunteer team of employees to help paint the dugouts.
This should occur by the end of the month. A grand re- opening of this park damaged
by the April 16, 2011 tornado will be in September or October once the weather cools a
little. We will make sure that the celebration is very well advertised.
Chiller for Government Center — The new Chiller for the Government Center was to
be delivered on Tuesday August 14 General Services did a great job keeping the
existing Chiller going during this hot summer. The new Chiller is coming at a great time.
The switch over will take a couple of weeks.
Other Items
San- Lee Park has been overflowing most of the summer on weekends. The Park has
been a big draw for our citizens and others in the region. The mountain bike trail has
been attracting riders from all over the southeast. NC State will be hosting a mountain
bike competition in September. All this activity has shown that the park lacks the parking
space it needs for weekends and events. In next year's budget the Parks and
Recreation Department will be presenting ways to expand parking.
