/ MIN <br /> k//f � <br /> LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> EAST LEE MIDDLE SCHOOL TOUR <br /> 1337 BROADWAY ROAD <br /> SANFORD, NC 27332 <br /> June 13, 2022 <br /> MINUTES <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: Arianna Lavallee, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick <br /> Absent: Robert Reives, Dr. Andre Knecht <br /> Lee County staff in attendance included Assistant County Manager/Finance Director Lisa <br /> Minter, General Services Director Russel Spivey, and Deputy County Attorney/Clerk to the <br /> Board Jennifer Gamble. <br /> Also in attendance representing Lee County Schools: Superintendent Dr. Andy Bryan, Public <br /> Information Officer Sharon Spence, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction <br /> Dr. Chris Dossenbach and Board of Education Member Pat McCracken. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Smith called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br /> TOUR <br /> Dr. Andy Bryan, Lee County Schools Superintendent, led the Board of Commissioners, <br /> as well as County and Lee County Schools staff in a tour of East Lee Middle School. <br /> Before the tour, Dr. Bryan noted the plans for a security entrance that is encased in <br /> glass and a buzzer for visitors to ring to be checked in at the school's front office. The <br /> back doors were replaced in the 2019-2020 school year. Dr. Bryan recently met with the <br /> Sheriff to work on planning over the summer regarding school security. Plans include <br /> getting staff trained, providing mental health support and threat and suicide <br /> assessments. <br /> The East Lee Middle School gym is small in relation to the school. The cost for an <br /> additional gym is estimated at $5 million and will be located out the back of the existing <br /> gym via a connector. It will also have four classrooms, a locker room and gym seating <br /> 1 <br />
