The major change was to funding limits to get the Board to talk about how much
the County should be spending on non-profits and to add guidelines. All organizations
have met the minimum guidelines and while they are meeting the guidelines for their
purpose, they are asking for the funding for a different purpose. A minimum number of
$2,000 for each grant and a maximum of$10,000 and a total maximum cap of$100,000
was suggested for the policy. The money allocated for the homeless shelter would not be
included under this policy and neither would the allocation for the services provided by
SAGA. At the end of the policy is a review process for commissioners so the
commissioners can review applications as soon as they are all received to get the
process started. Commissioner Carver provided a spreadsheet with some
recommendations based on how each organization passes the Strategic Plan test.
Commissioner Reives asked for the Department of Social Services Director to review the
spreadsheet provided by Commissioner Carver and provide feedback.
Nonprofit funding policy adopted 5.6.19.doc
Nonprofit funding policy Staff Revisions 5-9-
22.pdf
Motion: Motion to require any recipient of County money to have a bonded person
to be included as a part of the Non-Profit Funding Policy.
Mover: Robert Reives
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk
Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
7
