Motion: Motion to approve the FY 2022-2023 Budget Ordinance as amended.
Mover: Dr. Andre Knecht
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe,
Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
VI.G Legislative Goals Discussion
On the 14th of June, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners
(NCACC) is hosting a Legislative Day in Raleigh and solicited topics to present to
legislative representatives. NCACC is requesting proposals for legislative goals by
September 12th. Chairman Smith directed the Board to send any submissions to the
Clerk to the Board. Commissioner Reives requested that the legislature consider
addressing the issue of differences in benefits and salary between jailors and law
enforcement personnel.
VII. MANAGERS' REPORTS
County Manager John Crumpton said that two letters have been received from the
North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) for the Moore Center,
the first being approval of the work plan for the hazardous waste and the second is the
approval of the financial assurance. These items were needed so Central Carolina
Community College can move forward with the lease and financing of the capital
project. The financial assurance is like a line of credit with the bank that can be released
once a notice of no further action on the hazardous waste is received from NCDEQ.
Motion: Motion that the Board send a letter to Central Carolina Community College
recommending the hire of the two workers that have helped to clean up the
Moore Center and to provide letters of appreciation to the individuals for their hard
work.
Mover: Robert Reives
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk
Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
VIII.
