County Manager John <br /> Crumpton provided a presentation summarizing his recommended budget for FY 22- <br /> 23. Budgets requested by all departments totaled $93,841,795. The total <br /> recommended budget, which includes a 3-cent tax rate reduction, is $91, 164,429. A <br /> copy of the presentation is attached and incorporated into these minutes. <br /> V.D FY 2023-2027 Recommended Capital Improvements Program (CIP) <br /> County Manager John Crumpton presented the FY 2023-2027 recommended Capital <br /> Improvements Program. Capital Improvements for projects exceeding $500,000 totaled <br /> $159,686,523 covering Administration, Lee County Schools, Community Development, <br /> Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), Human Services and Public Safety. <br /> Recommendations include upgrades to the fueling system to accommodate future fuel <br /> needs, addition of a training room for onsite training for staff, as well as the addition of a <br /> mechanical room and wash bays to the existing facilities at General Services. Four <br /> priorities with the public schools are at Southern Lee and Lee County High Schools, <br /> East Lee Middle School and West Lee Middle School and a new Lee County <br /> Elementary School is recommended to begin FY 26-27. At CCCC, the E. Eugene Moore <br /> Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center began in FY 22-23. Lee Early College and <br /> the CCCC library is scheduled to begin in FY 24 -25. Human Services requested an <br /> Animal Shelter Expansion, which is recommended for FY 25-26. For Public Safety, the <br /> County is looking to update the existing radio system to the Viper system, which is <br /> estimated to cost about $5.44 million. This transition is anticipated to occur in FY 24-25. <br /> A public hearing on the Capital Improvements Program is scheduled for June 6, 2022. <br /> Adoption of the CIP is anticipated on June 20th.
