BK:00025 PG:0026 <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONSIDERATION BY <br />THE LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR CAPITAL NEEDS FINANCING AT <br />CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGE <br />WHEREAS, providing adequate facilities and quality educational opportunities for our students, <br />citizens and businesses are fundamental to the economy of Lee County and the prosperity of its <br />residents; and <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College currently has an immediate need for a <br />continuing education building to house elements of its literacy and occupational programs, but primarily <br />to house its rapidly expanding workforce development and medical programs. The cost for the project <br />is estimated to be $8,964,458.00. A detailed description and justification for this building is set out in <br />Lee County's Recommended Capital Improvement Plan, FY 2013 -2016; and <br />WHEREAS, Central Carolina Community College also has a current urgent need for much needed <br />extensive improvements and renovations to the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. The cost for the project <br />is estimated to be $3,273,493.00. A detailed description and justification for this project is set out in Lee <br />County's Recommended Capital Improvement Plan, FY 2013 -2016; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has given both of these Lee County capital projects top priority <br />and unanimously supports the funding of both projects, as soon as possible, which will help improve the <br />delivery of quality educational programs, promote job creation and job readiness, and further promote <br />economic opportunities in Lee County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Central Carolina Board of Trustees respectfully requests <br />that the Lee County Board of Commissioners, review as soon as possible, alternative and economically <br />feasible funding options to finance the cost of construction of the continuing education building and <br />making extensive improvements and renovations to the Dennis A.
