NEW BUSINESS <br /> V.A Purchase of Four (4) 2022 Dodge Chargers for the Sheriff's Department <br /> Moved to New Business from the Consent Agenda. <br /> County Manager John Crumpton stated that in budget negotiations with the Sheriff, <br /> originally 8 Dodge Durangos were requested and then following discussions, they <br /> settled for 4 Dodge Chargers and 4 Dodge Durangos. Due to the difficulty to acquire <br /> the SUVs, a request came to purchase Chargers. William Sturkie, the new Chief <br /> Deputy of the Sheriff's Department, has requested time to see if they can acquire the <br /> Dodge Durangos. If the Chargers in the budget are changed to Durangos, the <br /> difference in cost is about $60,000. Chief Deputy William Sturkie said that the <br /> purpose of needing SUVs verses patrol cars is that the SUVs are far more suited for <br /> driving in the rural areas due to the history of the Chargers tearing out under <br /> carriages and bottoming out in these areas, so the Sheriff's Department is <br /> 3 <br />
