County Manager John Crumpton stated that in budget negotiations with the Sheriff, originally 8 Dodge Durangos were requested and then following discussions, they settled for 4 Dodge Chargers and 4 Dodge Durangos. Due to the difficulty to acquire the SUVs, a request came to purchase Chargers. William Sturkie, the new Chief Deputy of the Sheriff's Department, has requested time to see if they can acquire the Dodge Durangos. If the Chargers in the budget are changed to Durangos, the difference in cost is about $60,000.
