Central Carolina
Community College has been administering workforce development programs. In
discussions with the state. there is an intent to join Lee and Chatham Counties
representation on a workforce development board with Johnston and Wake Counties under
the Capital Area Workforce Development Board. Wake and Johnston Counties have
indicated they are on board with the change. The resolution would be sent to the state to
show commitment to dissolving the Triangle South Workforce Development Board upon Lee
and Johnston merging with the Capital Area Workforce Development Board. The
department of commerce is working to consolidate the workforce development boards in the
state. There are currently 26 workforce development boards. They want to consolidate into
8 specific enterprise zones. CCCC is unable to provide training opportunities in workforce
development because they are currently the administrator. Dissolving the Triangle South
Workforce Development Board would allow CCCC to provide the training.
Workforce_Development_Resolution__Lee_and_Chatham_Draft.docx
Capital Area Workforce Development Board - Lee and Chatham support letter
(1).pdf
7
