0 0 <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the minutes of the <br />regular meeting held on November 16, 1981, be approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />A petition requesting the addition of Fernridge Drive, Woodstone <br />Court, Cedarhurst Drive and Glenn Court, all streets in the Woodbridge Subdivision, <br />to be added to the State Maintained Secondary Road System, was presented to the <br />Board, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the resolution entitled "Request <br />for Addition to State Maintained Secondary Road System!', a copy of which is attached <br />to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Highway Division <br />be requested to investigate and erect such signs as may be needed to identify the <br />location of the Sanford-Lee County Airport. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , advised the Board that <br />an inspection would be made of the construction at the Sheriff's office and jail on <br />Tuesday, December 8, 1981, at 10 o'clock a, m. , and that the contractor and <br />architect would be there and all members of the Board were invited to attend, <br />The County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , brought up for <br />discussion, the acquisition for space for use by the Department of Social Services, <br />It was the consensus of the Board that the trailer presently used.by the Sheriff's <br />Department could be moved and that the activities presently carried on in the houses <br />owned by the County on Evergreen Lane be transferred to the trailers and the Depart- <br />ment of Social Services be allowed to use the houses on Evergreen Lane for their <br />activities. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen advised the Board that the Tri- <br />County Alliance against Hazardous Waste would meet next Monday in McLeod <br />Auditorium. <br />Dr. Dave Culkin appeared before the Board and presented the <br />results of his feasibility study for the establishment of a Civic Center in Lee County. <br />Dr. Culkin,explained the methodology used in conducting his survey and the responses <br />received and gave his interpretation of those responses. His recommendations were <br />that there was a need for a Civic Center in Lee County and that the acquisition of <br />such was feasible but would take a concerted effort to acquire one. It was Dr. Culkin's <br />opinion that.persons over 55 years were negative towards the project. The Board <br />expressed its appreciation for the work done by Dr. Culkin and his associates and for <br />his presentation.. <br />
