v. cooly.� 20Z -3-7 9eso)v+0 <br /> ,* _ s *. <br /> 4'1 \izo�. <br /> RESOLUTION REDEFINING <br /> COMMISIONER ELECTORAL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on June 26, 1989, <br /> altering the structure of the Board to provide that it consist of seven members, four of whom are <br /> elected from single-member districts by the voters of those districts, and three of whom are <br /> elected by all of the voters of the County at large; and <br /> WHEREAS, analysis of the 1990 census data revealed there was a substantial inequality of <br /> population among the districts and the Board, acting pursuant to N.C.G.S. 153A-22, redefined <br /> the electoral districts in the manner prescribed by law by a resolution adopted on October 18, <br /> 1993; and <br /> WHEREAS, analysis of the 2000 census data revealed there was substantial inequality of <br /> population among the districts and the Board, acting pursuant to N.C.G.S. 153A-22, again <br /> redefined the electoral districts in the manner prescribed by law by a resolution adopted on July <br /> 25, 2001; and <br /> WHEREAS, analysis of the 2010 census data revealed there was a substantial inequality of <br /> population among the districts and the Board, acting pursuant to N.C.G.S. 153A-22, redefined <br /> the electoral districts in the manner prescribed by law by a resolution adopted on July 18, 2011; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, analysis of the 2020 census data reveals there is a substantial inequality of <br /> population among Districts 1 and 3 and the Board so finds as a fact that such a condition exists; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,N.C.G.S. 153A-22 provides that when such inequality of population among <br /> electoral districts exists, the Board of Commissioners may, by resolution, redefine the electoral <br /> districts; and <br /> WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on October 4, 2021, and a newspaper publication notice <br /> was provided detailing Plans A and E including illustrations of the proposed district map <br /> modifications, such notice along with all other plans have also been posted to the Lee County <br /> website,www.leecountync.gov since the Commissioners began discussion of redistricting; and <br />
