i <br />The Board next proceeded to receive bids for the water line to <br />the Deep River School. Mr. Robert Bracken of Bracken & Associates, and Mr. <br />Elwin Buchanan of the Grants Department opened the bids and presented them to <br />the Board. The bids received were as shown on the Bidders Data form, a copy <br />of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Following receipt of the bids, the Engineer took the bids for study and no formal <br />action was taken at this time. <br />A proposal for the program and budget for the operation of the <br />Mary Margaret McLeod Home was presented to the Board. Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen,moved that the agreement and budget be approved and that the Chair- <br />man be authorized to execute the agreement for and on behalf of the County. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. William Johnson, Superintendent of Schools, appeared before <br />the Board and introduced himself to the members of the Board. <br />Change Orders pertaining to the general construction contract and <br />the plumbing contract for jail renovation were presented to the Board and explained <br />by the County Manager, upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded <br />by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a <br />vote. <br />Mr. Robert Bracken, the Engineer, appeared before the Board <br />and recommended that the low bid of J. C. Johnson be accepted for construction <br />of the water line to the Deep River School. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the low bid of J. C. Johnson be accepted for construction of the water line <br />to the Deep River School, and that the Chairman and the Clerk be. authorized to <br />execute a contract in. accordance with the bid specifications and bid price. Comm- <br />issioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />There being no further b sines to me before the'session, it <br />was adjourned, sine die. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />C LE <br />
