G31
LEE COUNTY
a000a
Committed Today for a Better Tornorrow
LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ITEM ABSTRACT ITEM NO. ll. I.
_ Information
Meeting Date: July 16, 2012 Action Item
XX Consent Agenda
SUBJECT Approval of Tax Collector's Annual Settlement
DEPARTMENT Tax
CONTACT PERSON Dwane Brinson
REQUEST (1) Charge Tax Collector with collecting 2012 taxes; (2) adopt
resolutions; (3) accept settlement
SUMMARY Each year the Tax Collector must make settlement with the
governing board per NCGS 105 -373. As part of settlement —and
perhaps most importantly —the governing board charges the Tax
Collector with collecting taxes for the current fiscal year and prior
fiscal years with unpaid taxes. This "charge" gives the Tax Collector
authority to use enforced collection measures, and it gives legal
notice that the tax lien is first in priority.
A copy of all 2011 unpaid personal and unpaid real estate property
is in the Clerk's office for review.
BUDGET IMPACT N/A
ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Affidavit
(2) Tax Collector's Report for FY 2012
(3) Resolution Approving the Tax Collector's Annual Settlement
(4) Order of Board of Commissioners to Collect Taxes
PUBLIC HEARING N/A
PRIOR BOARD ACTION N/A
RECOMMENDATION Approve all documents as presented
