VI.A Request to Appear - Experience 180 Inc.
Ashley Palmer, Chair of the executive board for Experience 180, along with Dr.
Crystal Mclver, CEO of Experience 180, and Deidre Stephenson, Chair of the Total
Package board presented information regarding the purpose and benefit of the
program. Experience 180 Inc. was created to assist individuals with changing
direction by moving through self-advocacy, empowerment, and resource
connections. Experience 180 has been operating since 2018 and has been
established as a 501c3 non-profit organization since July 2020. The non-profit is
governed by an executive board. CEO Dr. Crystal McIver who holds a PHD in
human services, Master in Human Services Counseling and Executive Leadership,
and MA in Human Services and Social Work started the first reentry program called
Fresh Start while working for CCCC. Dr. McIver stated that the first program under
Experience 180 is Total Package and is a reentry program that helps people
navigate systems, resources, and society following incarceration. The organization's
purpose is to help returning citizens successfully reenter society and improve public
safety and save money. Experience 180 is located at 1216 Fayetteville Street. The
Total Package has been able to support individuals with the goal of reentering
society. The process starts where individuals volunteer to cooperate with the
program, which starts with an intake and an assessment to learn more about the
individuals and their needs and from there they are able to develop life coaching
and a personal plan for each person. Mindset Maintenance is a curriculum created
to help people change their mindset. Skills for Success is the partnership through
the Community College and provides skills that are employability skills. The Chair of
Total Package Reentry Committee, Deidre Stephenson, is an attorney in Sanford
and is from Lee County. A Resource to Resource Fair will be held on Wednesday,
October 27th from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Stevens Center at 1575 Kelly
Drive, Sanford, NC to help better understand what resources are available in the
community and how they can help the population. A new program that will be
launched is the Olive Branch Program and is a strong family, strong community
centered, safety first, client and family education and research, and resource
connections program. DHHS is helping to design the Olive Branch Program. Dr.
Crystal Mclver, CEO of Experience 180 can be contacted at 919-0935-6890 or at
cmcivere180@gmail.com.
