04
Legislature's intent with the law. Based on the new legislation and the time it is taking to
re -write an ordinance that would be in compliance with State Law, I have recommended
that we wait until the July 16` meeting to discuss this issue. By that time the Legislature
should be out of session. Any changes to the law will have been made. This will allow
us to put in place an ordinance that is in compliance with the new State Law if it is
enacted and give us the time we need to write the ordinance.
3) The animal shelter continues to hold a dog (Che) that the City and Sheriff have deemed
to be dangerous. The owner has filed a lawsuit saying the he dog was improperly
seized and should be returned. Really, this is a City issue, but the County is involved
because we are holding the dog in our shelter and the Sheriff's Department is involved.
We have held the pet for over 60 days. I bring this up because it is costing the County
money every day to house the pet.
4) We are moving along with the sale of the Linden Road property to the Housing Authority.
Mr. Hoyle was handling this transaction, but due to his absence, Dale has taken it over.
The Board already declared this property as surplus. The Housing Authority is the only
bidder so all the documents are being prepared for the Chairman's signature to transfer
the property.
5) The Jonesboro Library facility was declared surplus by the Board last July. After some
time to make sure all the property was removed we put a for sale sign out in front of the
building. Dale has taken some inquires, but no offers yet.
Upcoming Meetings
July 4" —American Legion Post Celebration — 10:00am - all County offices closed.
July 16` — Commissioners meeting at 4:00 pm.
August 20` — Commissioners meeting at 4:00 pm
