DRAFT
Start-up Plan for a Visitor Promotion and Marketing Organization
Mission:
Increase the visibility and visitor related economic activity of our community
Concept:
Utilize the Chamber of Commerce as the lead organization to develop a public
relation
s marketing effort for Lee County. Build on existing relationships with
private industry plus the Chamber's ability to build consensus and forge a team
effort. Organize stakeholders, develop a strategic plan, and construct a
framework for future expansion of a tourism and promotional entity.
Timetable:
As soon as funding is in place, the Chamber would lead the effort until a Tourism
Development Authority is constituted and operational with a dedicated funding
stream.
Funding:
Initial funding for this effort would come from private industry sources including
Lee County 2nd Century, grant funding from private, state and federal sources,
the City of Sanford, the County of Lee and the Town of Broadway.
Oversight:
Written and/or oral reports would be provided quarterly, or as requested, to all
contributing governmental units. Governmental units, though their managers,
would assist the Chamber in developing appropriate performance measures. The
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors would be the responsible for
operations. The Chamber executive would supervise the day -to -day operation,
manage budgets and prepare reports.
