PUBLIC COMMENTS
No public comments were received.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
VI.A Information-update on Sheriff Watson Road
County Attorney Whitney Parrish provided the Board with an update regarding
property located on Sheriff Watson Road. The Board acquired the property located
on Sheriff Watson Road PIN 9547-96-9540- 00 through a tax foreclosure. The Board
previously declared the property as surplus. The Board has accepted an offer, but
due to some of the conditions of the property, the individual has requested to
withdraw her offer. Many individuals have inquired about this property. Due to the
tax office appraisal, Staff wanted to bring this to the Board's attention and give all
individuals an opportunity to submit initial offer bids. Once the bids are received,
they will be brought to the Board for consideration and to move forward with the
upset bid process. No action was taken.
VI.B Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Clerk to the Board Jennifer Gamble provided the Board with a ballot summarizing
the applications received and requested that the Board vote on the appointments by
ballot. A summary of the appointments will be provided later in the meeting. The
deadline for applications was set for June 4, 2021, however applications were
received on a rolling basis. Commissioner Sharpe requested a summary of the rules
regarding a Commissioner appointment to the Central Carolina Community College
Board of Trustees. Ms. Gamble stated that Session Law 2015- 252, which amended
the rules set forth by North Carolina General Statute 115D-12, states that "No more
than one trustee from Group Two may be a member of a board of county
commissioners of a given county." This means that for every county that has
appointments to the CCCC Board of Trustees, no more than one commissioner can
be appointed. Commissioner Reives noted for the record that the Board's policy is to
give preference to the applications that are submitted timely.
2021 - Board Vacancy Advertisement.pdf
Motion: Motion to appoint by ballot.
Mover: Bill Carver
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe,
Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
4
